People are afraid of all sorts of weird things, but what we think of as dangerous or deadly is rarely what is realistically the most dangerous. Sharks? Volcanoes? Earthquakes? Aircraft? ... The odds of slipping in the shower at home in the bathroom and die is hell better than being bitten by a shark. Just so you know. I think hopping around the outskirts of the tourist areas, both in the Philippines and kambojda with just the tank. And it is neither naive, foolish or ignorant, reed on the contrary, it is with a high awareness of the realistic risks I do. The odds of getting run over in the morning when I're reed about to Ica, is at least as great as being raped outside my hotel in Sihanoukville. Simply Because: it is about the unpredictable, it is about something that is often beyond our ability to predict or prevent, reed that it happens then it happens, and it might as well be there as here. You take risks, then wherever you are and whatever you do, so the question is, what risk are most joy? Live free and adventurous at the equator, or live gråzons-life of the country right? Whatever floats you boat as well .. (And just to my right inflatable boat happens to be made for a little more adventurous water so it does not mean that your well is, but if it is so .. let it not stand still in the harbor and fungus growth :) Right now it's a surprising number that raises the eyebrow when I tell them that I am on a trip in itself, and one by one they give me examples of the knife murder and rape, the horror stories, but its like .. But I imagine reed instead that much, and even damn much, depends on how it is where unaccompanied reed individual behaves. If you are picky, ungrateful and just over so yes, a stab in the stomach might not surprisingly, then. Or you go around in a short skirt on the dark alleyway in today's Saudi Arabia, so they just increased their odds of assault by 50%, sadly but unfortunatly true. Or, are you acting like an insufferable asshole so is probably the risk of getting into trouble reed a little bigger. reed Are you saying condescending things to the wrong people, you might shippas home to Sweden in bags .. all risks can be neutralized reed more or less on one with some common sense adapts itself to the perceived risks that exist. That is to say that by being a decent fucking being going pretty far! Of course there are psychos in all our nations, and perhaps given the impression of being more in some parts of the world than in others .. but if 500 people convicted of murder in Russia and only 5 in Sweden, so it does not mean all times to there are more murders in Russia. Many times manipulated statistics by hiding the population, reed and it creates false images of those who have learned to analyze statistics. It is mentioned, for example, as I wrote above, very awful scenarios for solo travelers who are in trouble ... but how much do we hear about those who are managing gallant and have the best time of his life? There is much more that belongs to the latter category .. but still we hear much less about them. And back to psycho's .. they are everywhere. And if I will run into one during my next trip or not, no one can know. But I am absolutely convinced that the risk is as great as I am here in the shop when I'm in Stockholm or Cambodia. We recently had a murder case in which a young girl victim of a psycho gone loose. No one had suspected anything about this guy, but then suddenly the unthinkable happens. Just what the girl was the victim of, is something we are all at risk every day, wherever in the world we are moving. We never know where these people are or what their disguises looks. It could be the guy in the neighboring port, tavern girl with stilettos, he that nice who works at the ICA, or telephone salesman who got your address. The point is that we can never rule over these people, it's up to chance, or fate if you prefer to think of it .. to decide. It happens it happens, and it can happen here as well as in Vietnam. So back to the basic question: What risks are most joy? For my part, it's all the times where adventurous life as a traveler another trans in the world, my homeland safe with Jante and ingrained norms can not offer me. I'd rather risk being raped in a tropical country reed than in a freezing cold Sweden. I'd rather risk being robbed at fillipinernas boardwalk than along with ispromenaden in Luleå. I would rather risk dying in traffic in a tuktuk in Thailand than here on E4 in northern Sweden. Life is never risk-free. So do not adapt your life at the expense of what makes you feel alive!
