On the topside, IKM Testing will do the N2/He leak testing, but the contract leaves options for bolt work, hot oil flushing, trade it chemical cleaning and flange machining. The work will include personnel, equipment and consumables.
The field is located approximately 150 kilometres east of the Shetland Isles, which is currently under development by operator Statoil and its partners. The topside is expected to reach its offshore UK location in mid January 2016. IKM Testing s subsidiaries in South Korea, Singapore and the UK will assist with personnel and equipment to the project.
The Mariner heavy oil field is one of the largest UK s oil fields with estimated 300 to 500 MMbbl (million barrels) of recoverable oil. According to Statoil, the Mariner field development entails a gross investment of more than $7 billion . It is expected to start production in 2017.
